Little Henry® Itea is one of those shrubs that gives you a great look in all seasons. The spring brings the bottle brush flowers and in the fall the dark red foliage is so striking.

(Sweetspire) Little Henry® Itea is a versatile, compact shrub that offers multi-season appeal. In early summer, butterflies and hummingbirds are attracted to a profusion of sweetly scented, white flowers that erupt over the mounding foliage. As the temperature cools in early fall, the foliage turns reddish orange and eventually changes to a brilliant blood red that is even more intense than a burning bush! Little Henry® is extremely versatile in the landscape. It prefers moist soils, but will even tolerate wet conditions. It will grow in full sun to full shade, and requires little pruning or other maintenance. A Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Flowering Shrub.

Yucca  ‘Color Guard’

Yucca Color Gaurd Winter Color

Yucca 'Color Guard' Winter Color

When you are looking for plant and shrub choices for your gardens there is more to consider than just the flower. There are many great plants for your gardens that have foliage interest. When the weather starts to cool off and the plants and flowers fade your foliage plants are still going strong. Yucca ‘Color Guard’ is a drought tolerant,  evergreen perennial that is native in the US. Yucca ‘Color Guard’ bears bright creamy-yellow leaves with green edges. During the cooler months of fall and winter, the light leaf centers take on rose overtones. From early to midsummer, spectacular sturdy flower stalks rise 3-4 feet tall from the center of the plant. The individual bell-shaped flowers are 2-3 inches long and dangle from the stems like earrings.  ‘Color Guard’ is a tough-as-nails plant that is ideal for a no-maintenance garden. The sword-like foliage radiates upward from a central crown, remaining upright all year round except in the heaviest snows. They grown well in a full sun to part shade area and the deer and rabbits will leave these winter foliage winners alone.

Hydrangea Limelight really makes for a beautiful flowering shrub. In mid to late summer the large white blooms cover the entire plant. As the blooms mature they start to turn to shades of light pink and as they get older they turn to a bright pink color. Hydrangea Limelight also makes for a great cut flower that can also be dried. I cut and dried a large bouquet of the blooms and am still enjoying them in my house in a vase. If you want a shrub that has loads of large blooms that takes on different looks as the blooms mature, you will love this choice.
