Sisyrinchium ‘Devon Skies’

Sisyrinchium 'Devon Skies 1x1(Blue Eyed Grass) Sisyrinchium ‘Devon Skies’ is often referred to as ‘Blue Eyed Grass’, but it is technically not an ornamental grass. The grass-like foliage forms compact clumps that are topped with sky blue, star-like flowers with bright yellow throats. ‘Devon Skies’ tolerates heat, humidity, poor soil, and is drought tolerant as long as it has good drainage. The long bloom time of ‘Devon Skies’ make it the perfect plant for rock gardens or the front of the perennial border.

I must say, I like Pennisetum grasses the best. They vary by their heights and some have great color variation. Depending on the height you are looking for, you should find a Pennisetum grass that will work. One reason I like  Pennisetum is the light airy plumes that sway in the breeze. ‘Karley Rose’ has a rose-purple color to the plume, which is very attractive. Most Pennisetum grasses start blooming in mid June and go all season.

Many Grasses will add great height and motion to your garden!!! Remember don’t cut your grasses back until early spring, because they will add winter appeal to your garden.
