The cold temperatures and heavy snow load can cause damage to your plants. Here are a few tips to protect your investment. Plants benefit from being covered in the winter. An effective way to protect the foliage and stems in by using a cloth cover. A good choice is burlap, but other forms of cloth will work nice also. Do not use plastic! Plastic mimics the conditions of being in a greenhouse, causing the temperature to climb and drop, not a good situation for a plant that is supposed to be staying dormant. When the weather starts to get nice you can safely remove the cloth. But be on the look out for an occasional late frost and have the cloth ready for a quick recover.
